Amgen Tour Road Closures

The Amgen Tour of California motors through Tuolumne County into Fresno County on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.  The California Highway Patrol will be managing road closures along the race course to provide safety and security to the race participants as well as to the public.  Stage #4 of the 2012 AMGEN Tour of California will begin in Sonora and pass through the communities of Mariposa and Oakhurst before finishing in downtown Clovis.

Please be prepared for closures at the following locations (times are not exact and may be modified):

Rain Forces Cancellation Of Fresno Veterans Run

The Air Force ROTC's 5K Veterans Run scheduled for Saturday, April 14, at Fresno State has been canceled due to the rainy weather.

The goal of the run was to raise money for the Fresno Veterans Hospital.

Event organizers say donations can still be dropped off at Fresno State's North Gym at 8 a.m. The first 30 people will receive T-shirts and prizes.

Former NFL Player To Coach Edison Football Team

Ricky Manning, Jr. -- former NFL defensive back and Edison High School graduate -- has been hired to lead the Edison High School football team, the Fresno Unified School District announced Monday.

"It's a great day when we can welcome back one of our graduates to lead our football team," said Edison High School Principal Brian Wall. "Mr. Manning was a standout at Edison not only on the football field, but as a student – he brings experience and heart that will benefit our student athletes greatly."

Manning played six seasons in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and St. Louis Rams, and he played in two Super Bowls (XXXVIII and XL). The defensive back was drafted in the third round of the 2003 draft by the Carolina Panthers. While at UCLA, he earned Freshman All-American honors and 1st team All-Pac Ten for three consecutive years.

The Fresno Grizzlies will hold their annual job fair next month.

The baseball organization is looking to fill more than 400 seasonal positions.

Employment opportunities include: ticket takers, ushers, concessions, security, team store, bat boys and many more.

The job fair will take place:

10 a.m. -- 12 p.m.
Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno

The Grizzlies are looking to hire fun, energetic and dependable people.
